The Finnish Society of Irish Cobs ( FSIC ry )

The original society was established in 2002. After that, during the last 15 years the Society has stabilized the position of the Irish Cob breed in Finland. Society was given authority’s permission to maintain a studbook and register for Irish Cob breed in 2012. The Finnish Studbook sets it's rules and regulations in accordance with the original Irish studbook.

The goals of the society are

  • to promote breeding
  • to create activity among Irish Cob horse owners
  • to increase knowledge and recognizability of the breed

The Finnish studbook consists of 2 parts:

  • the Main Section
  • the Supplementary Section

As long as the studbook remains open, an entry in to the studbook can be done by birth or through breed inspection, done by acknowledged breed inspector. We have 5 breed inspectors in Finland. For newborn foals we offer identification services. We have 3 second grade judges and 1 first grade judge and training of the judges and inspectors is in progress.

The Finnish Society of Irish Cob organizes Studbook Breeding Inspections on yearly basis. Annually we have courses and events for irish cob owners and we take part of fairs etc around Finland. We have our own show-team (if you and your horse wish to apply). The Finnish Society of Irish Cob also collaborates with Irish Cob Societies in Scandinavia and many European countries.

We are happy to serve You and Your Irish Cob Horse!
